April 1998

19 years old and wanting a muscle car, but needing a truck as I was known to haul over 1,000 lbs between job sites...

400 th400 3.73 12 bolt

August 1998

Painless Wiring fuse block, Powermaster 100 amp alternator, and complete rewire. Found the bug that was raping the car, an amp grounded to the positive terminal on the coil!

May 1999

Hotchkis 2 inch drop springs and Air Lift polyurethane bags under the rear for preloading for launches and the extra payload capability and stability.

February 2000

Completely rebuilt the front suspension, PST's Polygraphite bushings, Koni shocks, and a 1.5 sway bar.

July 2000

Shattered the solenoid in the tranny, chunks everywhere. No tranny shop within 80 miles of Laramie WY....
TCI Street Fighter th400 with an 11 inch Breakaway converter, and a B&M Mega Shifter.

January 2001

July 2001

A set of Wheel Vintiques 15x8 ralleys

February 2002

Tubular A-arms, fabricated based on the Global West design. I have the Del-Alum bushings and appropriate ball joints, but need to acquire the appropriate spindles assembly to complete my tall spindle conversion.

July 2003

Chevelle could not stand the idea of being in the house with Kitty when I was out working on the el Camino. Obviously with health as the major factor, I would clean up and let her "pretend" with assistance. She has since been wrenching when every possibly.

May 2004

Hooker Comp ceramic coated headers, and 40 series Flows with mandrel bent 2.5 inch tubing dumped in front of the rear tires.

Fall 2004

After a long winter delay I finally had a chance to get the el Camino back together (with haste). I removed all the trim studs, and have patched in the fender markers and antenna holes, and welded up the emblem holes, and spray some PPG DP90LF epoxy primer. Yes it still needs some more, bottom of the fenders and eventually replace the quarters.

November 2004

Kitty's custom door panels.
using the stock panels for a template and the top shell,
the flames I drew them to scale... the rest was her touch.

After a decade, a cheap shot to my radiator killed the old 400.... stuck in traffic on highway 17, temperature sender failed reading 190 degrees, and a small piece of wood sticking out of my radiator.

March 08

the new 400,
bored 40 over, decked, align honed, balanced....
Speed Pro Hypereutectic pistons with moly rings, 9.2:1 compression. Clay Smith cam .480 lift with 231 degrees of duration. 2.02/1.6 stainless valves in cast iron heads. Edelbrock water pump, Energy Suspension's Hyper Flex Mounts. Russell braided stainless fuel line and fittings.

February 2009

New 100 amp alternator.

April 2009

Superior Axles and rebuilt the rear brakes.

November 2009

Veterans Day

Was never happy with the old Carter electric pump. It was very noisy and never consistent with fuel pressure. Turns out it was mounted to high, which caused priming issues every time I started the el Camino. I fabricated a bracket to support the new Edelbrock Quite-Flo pump at a good height in relation to fuel level, and added a few new Russell -6 AN fittings and fuel filter.

May 2010

The location and wiring for the Ignition had been bugging me for years. Well I finally had a chance to relocate the box and coil from the firewall to under the dash. While I was at it, I rewired the engine harness and moved the headlight harness out of sight.
